Fed: Khouri syas she will take legal action
Embattled author NORMA KHOURI is expected to sue a Sydney paper and its literary editor
for questioning the authenticity of her best-selling book, Forbidden Love.
Publishers of the book, Random House, have begun examining evidence provided by Ms
KHOURI to decide whether her work is fact or fiction.
The Queensland-based author has been overseas collecting material to back her book
after the Sydney Morning Herald published damning allegations that her so-called memoir
of life in Jordan is a lie.
Her Brisbane lawyer, PETER BLACK, says he doesn't know when she'll return to Australia.
But he says she's asked him to prepare a defamation action against the Herald and the
paper's literary editor, MALCOLM KNOX.
In the book, Ms KHOURI wrote that her best friend DALIA was killed by her father in
an honour killing, because she loved a Christian man.
But Mr KNOX alleges that while Ms KHOURI was born in Jordan at the age of three, she
moved to Chicago where she spent most of her life.
