Fed: Final Australian death toll from Bali likely to be 87
CANBERRA, Dec 7 AAP - The final number of Australians killed in the Bali bombings looksset to stand at 87, with 86 confirmed dead and one person still missing.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) said its advice from Indonesianauthorities was that about 180 people were killed in the October 12 blasts.
"There are 86 confirmed Australian deaths," DFAT said on its official website.
"We have very serious concerns about a further one Australian."
Of the 86 confirmed fatalities, 80 died in Bali, one in Singapore and the rest diedupon return to Australia.
DFAT said of the 80 killed in Bali, 37 were from NSW, 20 from Victoria, 13 from WesternAustralia, five from Queensland, three from South Australia and one each from Tasmaniaand the ACT.
"One person from NSW died in a Singapore hospital on 7 November," DFAT said.
Since October 19, 77 Australian bodies had been repatriated to Australia, one to Britainand one to France.
One body was cremated in Bali.
